Guitarist Jack Twombly has a background as a folk rock musician performing with other bands favorites from British groups like Steeleye Span or Fairport Convention. A native of Louisville, Kentucky, Jack learned to play the piano like his father and grandfather before him. However, with the British invasion of rock and blues music in the 60s, Jack picked up a used bass guitar and was soon playing in local bands. With the gift of an acoustic guitar from his mother and liberal access to his sister's collection of folk music recordings he discovered and developed his love for Celtic music. From driving rhythms to delicate fingerpicking, rollicking pub favorite to sentimental ballads, his instrumentation and vocals cover the wide range found in the traditional music of the British Isles. For over 30 years as a soloist and in ensembles, Jack has performed a wide variety of music. He was a member of the critically acclaimed band "Easter Island", and as a solo artist has performed on National Public Radio, at the Kentucky Music Festival, Frankfort Expo Louisville Homefront Performances, and "about every pub and club between time and Timbuktu.” As well as playing the 12 and 6 string guitar, Jack plays the unusual Irish bouzouki that has become popular in traditional Irish and Scottish music.
